I read this in a book today...and the Lord put on my heart to share.
Anyone who's ever cared for a child knows that most of the time children are totally unaware of the extent of care and protection afforded to them. When a toddler barrels across a yard with her eye on her Big Wheel, she is oblivious to the dangers lurking between her and her goal. So her Mother chases behind her, swinging her up at the last moment so she doesn't tumble over the rake. How many parents have trotted along beside a novice bicyclist as he learns to ride without training wheels. Even though the attentive adult is outside the child's view, their protection is none the less real and effective.
God protects us with the same care and love. Even when we're not fully aware of it, God's hand lifts us up when we are in danger, snatching us out of harm's way. he keeps His promise: "He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber" (Psalm 121:3). Sometimes it's only in looking back that we can see what God has done. We see the special warning or the circumstances altered ever so minutely or the call received at just the right moment. God's hand may sometimes be hidden, but it is without a doubt at work in our lives.
